The Cederberg Wilderness area is worth spending quality time in and an awesome play ground for those who love adventure ! As part of our latest adventure we camped at Sanddrif which is close to Cederberg Wines where you can also do some quality wine tasting.
Sanddrif campsite is located below the Wolfberg cracks, a scenic day hike through them takes you to the Wolfberg Arch, definitely a must to see some spectacular rock formations. The Cederberg is also a popular rock climbing destination for climbers, and has a number of great climbing spots. A short walk from the campsite takes you to the Sanddrif crag which has a variety of routes graded from 19 to 24.
With many trails out into the mountains for hiking this makes this area great for trail running aswell or a multi day mountaineering trip as we did on a previous visit.
From the campsite there are a nice selection of Mountain bike trails to choose from taking you through these amazing rock formations. Some of the trails have nice technical sections making them more exciting for the skilled riders. There are trails for all levels of riders thought and many miles of gravel roads for those that just want to do some gravel grinding.
There are also various rivers running through the Cederberg Wilderness area which after good rain offer great whitewater kayaking through untouched areas. On this trip we kayaked through the Visgat Canyon on the Olifants river. This was a awesome 2day trip through a very remote canyon.
